Mr.Craig Fergusson is currently Business Management
Adviser at Port Moresby Technical College, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
Previously he was the Australian manager of t+b solutions (Australia) pty ltd,
an organisational development consultancy firm providing services to leading
international companies in the Asia Pacific region with a focus on the
development of local managers of leading international companies.
Mr. Fergusson has extensive experience in management,
sales, marketing and training and holds tertiary qualifications in property
sales and management, economics, accountancy, training and education. He is the
author of numerous training manuals on risk management, project management, self
management, leadership, learning organisations, financial management,
budgeting, safety, change management, continuous improvement and managing
operations.
His current work as Business Management Adviser includes working with the POMTECH Governing Council, Principal, staff,
stakeholders and external experts, to enable:
(a)
Improved organisational,
strategic and operational planning capacity of the POMTECH management team and
the Council, with an emphasis on developing leadership attributes including: business ethics, organisational
culture-building and change management skills and knowledge.
(b)
Improved financial and business management practices and processes,
including asset management and revenue/expenditure tracking and reporting.
(c)
Human Resource Management. Identify
staffing requirements and gaps for teaching and administrative staff,
(including educational qualifications). Support the development and
implementation of annual staff performance assessment and professional
development processes. Support the Council in managing staff performance
issues.
(d)
Improved POMTECH operational capacity, reviewing and
reforming existing processes to ensure effective, consistent and transparent
approaches to:
(i)
appropriate staff rostering and
workload planning for teaching and administrative staff;
(ii)
administration, accounting and
reporting systems;
(iii)
enrolment and student tracking
systems;
(iv)
the development and
implementation of demand driven curriculum and courses which comply with DoE
policy frameworks; and
(v)
security arrangements for
equipment, staff, students, revenue and expenditure.
(e)
Strengthened operational and strategic partnerships
with stakeholders including; the Government of PNG agencies with TVET
responsibilities, industry partners (existing and new), the APTC, the PNG LNG
CTF, AusAID, other TVET institutions, the community, other donors and
suppliers.
(f)
Work collaboratively with other
stakeholders in the DoE CTF Transition Taskforce, contributing to the
development and implementation of a Transition
Plan for the handover of the PNG LNG CTF facility to POMTECH.
(g)
Provide marketing and media management skills to increase POMTECH’s profile
to potential students and industry partners.
